What differentiates AGT from other contractors is our ability to assist in the geotechnical design of your project, working with the Client and design team.

Through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), we can identify solutions to eliminate unwanted costs while improving product quality and value for the client.

Through the use of PLAXIS, AGT can tailor the retaining solution to suit our clients needs.

This service can be used where the site constraints include;

  • Challenging soil properties
  • Available space from the project boundary

Maximising the Gross Floor Area (GFA) of a development.

Hybrid retaining solutions to be used.

Temporary Strand Anchors

Temporary Strand Anchors – AGT’s Versatile Solution for Construction Projects.

Temporary Strand Anchors are a key solution offered by Australian Ground Technologies (AGT), designed to provide versatile support during construction.

These anchors are commonly used as part of a shoring system, applying an active load to walls to counteract lateral pressure from the ground during excavation.

Once the building’s slabs are installed up to the ground floor and approved by a structural engineer, the anchors are safely destressed and decommissioned from the shoring system.

Engineered to handle high working loads, AGT’s Temporary Strand Anchors are also vital for anchoring crane bases prior to installation and securing floor slabs to prevent uplift in large commercial warehouses.

With in-house engineering capabilities, AGT can design and manufacture temporary strand anchors customized to meet specific project requirements, including challenging ground conditions or difficult access areas.

We deliver effective, reliable solutions tailored to any construction demand.

Rock Bolting

Rock bolting is used to stabilize excavations in rock by drilling through unstable rock into the stronger rock behind and inserting a bolt, transferring the load from the unstable rock into the much stronger rock behind.

CT bolts are a common solution in tunnels as they can be tensioned after installation to provide immediate point anchorage, meaning the tunnel is supported prior to the subsequent grout curing.

Rock bolts, frequently paired with rock fall mesh, apply an active load to the mesh to mitigate additional rockfall, especially in regions where the accumulation of debris at the base of the wall poses a significant risk.

These areas encompass critical infrastructure such as motorways and railway lines.

AGT has the equipment and expertise to provide clients with the best solution for their particular project.

Soil Nailing

Soil Nailing Solutions by AGT for Slope Stabilization.

At Australian Ground Technologies (AGT), we offer soil nailing, a proven method for stabilizing both natural and excavated slopes.

The process involves drilling holes into the soil at predetermined patterns and depths, inserting steel bars, and securing them with cementitious grout.

This system effectively strengthens the soil, preventing further shearing and slope failure.

Soil nails can also be combined with other systems, such as shotcrete, to enhance their structural properties and protect the surface from weathering.

This versatile solution is ideal for a variety of projects, offering several key benefits, including reduced environmental impact, quick and easy installation, and the ability to be used in areas with limited access.

With AGT’s expertise and advanced technology, we provide tailored soil nailing solutions that ensure stability and safety for any slope stabilization project.

Permanent Anchors

Rock Permanent Anchors by AGT – Long-Term Stability and Durability.

Permanent Anchors, like Temporary Strand Anchors, are designed to provide critical tensile support, but with the key distinction that they remain stressed and must offer continuous, long-term stability.

With a design life of up to 100 years, Permanent Anchors require the use of high-quality materials and comprehensive corrosion protection to ensure their durability.

At Australian Ground Technologies (AGT), we meticulously manage every step of the installation process to ensure these anchors deliver long-lasting reliability.

Each anchor is treated with anti-corrosion grease along its unbonded length, fitted with galvanized plates, and sealed with a galvanized cap filled with additional anti-corrosion grease, providing robust protection against corrosion.

This careful process guarantees that our permanent anchors not only meet but often exceed their design life expectations.

All permanent anchors installed by AGT are fully certified, giving our clients peace of mind regarding their quality, performance, and compliance with industry standards

Self-Drilling Anchors

Self-Drilling Anchors by AGT – Effective Ground Stabilization in Challenging Conditions

In ground conditions such as sand or gravel, where conventional drilling methods can lead to drill hole collapse upon retraction, self-drilling anchors (SDAs) provide a reliable solution.

At Australian Ground Technologies (AGT), we utilize self-drilling anchors to stabilize challenging ground by employing a threaded hollow steel bar with a sacrificial bit.

The anchor is driven into the ground using percussive rotational drilling, while grout is continuously pumped through the bar and out of the bit during the drilling process.

This continuous pressure grouting stabilizes the hole behind the bit as it advances, preventing collapse.

If needed, anchor length can be extended using couplers to add additional anchor bars to the drill string.

Once the anchor reaches the desired depth, grout is pumped until it flows back to the surface, creating a grout "bulb" at the anchor's end.

This bulb enhances the anchor's load-bearing capacity, ensuring greater stability and load transfer.

AGT’s self-drilling anchor systems are ideal for difficult ground conditions, offering a robust and efficient solution for ground stabilization.

FPR Works

FRP: The Traditional Method for Concrete Construction.

What is FRP?
FRP, or Form, Reo, Pour, is the conventional method of concrete construction known for its reliability and simplicity.

This process involves several key steps:

  1. Steel Reinforcement: Steel bars are tied together to form a supportive structure.
  2. Timber Formwork: Formwork is set and braced around the reinforcement to shape the concrete.
  3. Concrete Pouring: Concrete is poured into the forms and vibrated to eliminate air pockets.
  4. Stripping Forms: Once the concrete has set, the forms are removed, revealing the finished structure.

Applications of FRP in Construction

FRP is widely used across various structures, including:

  • Columns and Slabs: Essential for vertical and horizontal support.
  • Dams: Providing strength and durability in water-retaining applications.
  • Bridge Decks: Ensuring stability and longevity for transportation structures.

AGT's Expertise in FRP

At AGT, our skilled FRP team specializes in constructing critical elements such as capping beams and footings:

  • Capping Beams: These formed beams are typically placed atop a series of piles. Steel is tied to starter bars that extend from the top of each pile, creating a robust assembly that connects the piles. This design helps mitigate deflection and reinforces the shoring system.

  • Footings: Often built atop piles at the bulk excavation level, footings serve as foundational support for the structure above. In some cases, they can be used independently to provide stability where ground conditions allow.
